About

The Project

The experiment

For the first time, Filmbase and Staffordshire University have come together to create a unique course where sixteen MSc Digital Feature Film Production students collectively produce their own feature film.

Rule of Three

Commissioning three writers to tell three separate stories linked by one cohesive theme, the feature will be shot over three weeks in Dublin in March 2012. Three directors will be selected from the group to direct each story. Producers, H.O.Ds and other key positions will be filled by members of the group.
Full use of Filmbase equipment and funding of three thousand euro have been allocated as a starting point for the group. Subsequent funding will be generated in innovative ways by course members.

Get Us To Galway

Once funding has been sourced the aim is to premiere the film at the 2012 Galway Film Festival. Through regular updates via social media, news and blogs, we hope that members of the public will enjoy charting the progress of the project.
If readers feel inspired to make monetary or practical contributions to help to ensure the success of the production, please make contact.
Fund-raising events will be organised and services offered (appropriate services!) to generate enough cash to get the film made.  The badge for our fund raising efforts is ‘Get Us To Galway’.
The Galway Film Fleadh is intended to be the first step for our film. We hope that our feature enjoys a long and extensive festival life and our supporters will enjoy being a part of that journey.

Wadya Know?

Very little!
So far, what we know, you know! Our facilitators have devised the course in such a way that we are not supposed to know. We haven’t seen any scripts or met with the writers, nor will we, until the end of January.
This is, after all, an experiment.

Feel the fear and do it anyway!

We’re in at the deep end of uncharted waters. This MSc Digital Feature Film Production course is the first of it’s kind, so it’s up to us to make sure it, and we, succeed.
Sink or swim? There’s no choice.
