What the what?

Ok, for those who don’t know, here is the dealio: we’re shooting a feature film in March for college, features costs money, we have none, you have some. We’d like to transfer your money to us in exchange for a rollicking good night. You read that correctly – rollicking. It’s gonna be so good we dug out a word from antiquity.
Now onto the sweet meat:

So, what is this?

A table quiz. Now, I know what you’re thinking; you’re thinking a film quiz? Organised by Masters film students? No thanks! I don’t want to be asked questions on lens choices and other such guff. Well, don’t you worry your pretty little faces! This isn’t aimed at film buffs – it’s a lot more pot luck, taking risks and a hell of a lot of cheating. Yeah, cheating. Read on, lovely-kins!

When?

Wednesday the 22nd of February, my friend. We’re gonna explain the rules at 8pm and then start firing questions at your faces. You won’t wanna miss the rules explanation, since they’re gonna be mental.

How much?

I dunno, how does €8 per head sound? Hell, if you pre-buy seats (or even tables), we’ll only charge you €7 per person. Of course, we’ll happily take more dosh from you…
Teams should be 4 per table, but we understand some of you don’t have that many friends, while others are swamped with chums (gits). We can facilitate you either way. Just not necessarily fairly…
Anyway, as we say you can grab tickets on the night, but if you want to do it beforehand, drop us a line on Facebook or Twitter (more options to come as we confirm them).

Where?

We’re gonna rock it up on the Bia Bar – those guys like to party harty and have provided us with loads of drinks promotions for the night, so that you can too.

How do I win?

You don’t really. You try to lose less than everyone else. By any means…

In that case, let’s get back to this cheating business…

Everything will be explained on the night, but in short you can cheat. We don’t mind, we’re good like that. That said we control the horizontal, vertical and how you can cheat. Caught on a smart phone? You get a dunce cap and a fine. You can buy points (hey, this is a fund-raiser, after all…), but the real meat is the game-changer cards. Inspired by Mario and his karting ways, we’re going to be using a power card system. Everyone gets one per round. Some do nothing, others steal points, get you more team members for a round, win you a prize or even let you turn the tables on the organisers. There may even be a ‘knife fight’ card!*
*no, there won’t.

Can I have a prize, please?

Well, there’ll be a raffle, so I suppose so… But don’t expect us to tell you what… See the picture? That box with a question mark represents a mystery prize. MYSTERY! Ohhh, Ahhh!

Any other questions?

Then mail us or comment below!

Also, the poster also available in Red and Blue! Feel free to print them out and wear them. Or stick up places and advertise for us. Whichever rocks your sexy, sexy boat.

Silent Art Auction

THE FUNDRAISING BEGINS!

Hey everyone!
So as you all may or may not know, we are going to be making a feature film in March (Hoorah!) The idea is to make a full length feature film, and once made, to get it into festivals and on to as many screens as possible!

As it takes an awful lot of money to make a film we are currently fundraising. As part of this we are hosting an art auction in Filmbase on Wednesday 25TH January. There will be LIVE MUSIC, CUPCAKES AND WINE and of course a SILENT AUCTION selling some fantastic work from some fantastic established and emerging artists. Entry is free and the venue – FILMBASE, CURVE STREET, TEMPLE BAR (opposite the Button Factory) – will be open from 6pm TO 9.30pm. Bidding will close at 9pm so bring your friends, wash a cup cake down with some wine and bid on some art!

SILENT AUCTION, A HOW TO:

A SILENT AUCTION is basically run in the same way as a normal auction except that bids are written on a sheet of paper. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. Items are auctioned simultaneously and “closed” at a common finish time. The auction is “silent” in that there is no auctioneer selling individual items. The bidders write their bids on a bidding sheet left on a table near the item. The bid sheets usually have a fixed starting amount, the highest bidder paying the price that he or she submitted. And that’s the general idea!

We hope to see you and your friends there!
